MG3, ZS and HS: what’s new?
More useful equipment and refreshed interiors are coming to three familiar MG favourites. Here is what the latest UK update means when choosing your car.
Your quick guide
- More everyday equipment: parking, comfort and cabin upgrades across MG3, ZS and HS.
- Hybrid+ refinements: the announced MG3 and ZS changes focus on a quieter, smoother drive.
- Choose the exact specification: new list prices accompany the update; existing stock and offers may differ.
UK range update
The changes worth knowing about
MG’s latest update puts the emphasis on features you notice every day: the seat you settle into, the view when reversing and the comfort of the cabin on a cold morning. The MG3 hatchback, ZS compact SUV and larger HS all feature in the announcement reported by Auto Express on 28 September 2026.
The details vary by model and trim. Rather than assuming that every new MG has the same equipment, use this guide to shortlist the features you want and ask the Invicta team to match them to the exact car or factory order.
The updated cars carry higher announced list prices. We have set out the new starting points below, alongside the added equipment, so you can compare the complete package with our current MG new car offers.
MG3 Hybrid+
A refreshed cabin for the compact MG
The announced MG3 Hybrid+ update brings redesigned black cloth upholstery to SE. Trophy gains a leather- and suede-style finish. MG is also targeting improved refinement for the MG3 and ZS Hybrid+ powertrains; The announcement describes changes intended to reduce noise and vibration.
For a small hatchback, the useful question is how comfortably it handles your normal week. Compare the seat finishes, adjust the driving position and check the controls with your phone connected. Then ask which updated specification is available to order and which cars are ready sooner.

MG ZS Hybrid+
More help with parking and everyday loading
On the updated ZS SE Hybrid+, the announced additions include a 360-degree camera, rear parking sensors and wireless phone charging, together with refreshed cloth upholstery. Trophy Hybrid+ adds an opening panoramic sunroof and powered tailgate, plus a leather- and suede-style cabin finish.
The camera is a feature worth trying in the showroom: look at the views available and how easily you can judge the edges of the car. If you regularly carry shopping or family luggage, ask for a demonstration of the powered tailgate and its controls.
Bring your phone, too. That gives you a chance to check charging compatibility and whether it sits neatly in the charging area with its usual case fitted.

MG HS
Comfort features move further down the range
The HS changes cover petrol, Hybrid+ and Plug-in Hybrid versions. The announced SE equipment now includes heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, wireless phone charging and a 360-degree parking camera. Trophy adds ventilated front seats and an opening panoramic sunroof.
Further reported HS changes include one-touch operation for all four windows, electrically folding mirrors with memory on SE and a reversing mirror tilt-down function. Petrol SE and Trophy versions also gain iSMART connected services. Ask the team to demonstrate the functions supported by your chosen car.
Additional HS details: Motoring Echo’s announcement coverage.
For guests who previously looked at a higher trim mainly to gain winter comfort or easier parking, that makes the updated SE worth another look. Trophy remains worth comparing if seat ventilation and the opening roof are features you would use regularly.
Choose the powertrain around your routine, then compare the trim. Someone with convenient home charging may have different priorities from a guest who parks on the street and wants hybrid driving without plugging in.

Some MG UK pages and existing vehicles still show the previous pricing or specification at the time of writing. For a meaningful comparison, ask for the model year, included equipment, on-the-road price and expected delivery date together.
Auto Express reports orders open for the updated MG3 Hybrid+, ZS and HS ranges, with updated HS Plug-in Hybrid arrivals expected by mid-October. The revised petrol MG3 follows later; it is not included above as an order-now recommendation. Confirm availability for your chosen car with Invicta.
Choose around your journeys
Hybrid+ or Plug-in Hybrid?
The names sound similar, but the charging routines are different. MG’s UK hybrid guide explains that Hybrid+ combines petrol and electric power without needing a charging cable. Energy recovered while slowing down and power from the engine help replenish its battery.
The HS Plug-in Hybrid has a larger battery that you can recharge from an external supply. MG UK quotes up to 75 miles of electric-only range. Regular access to charging gives you more opportunity to use that electric capability on everyday trips, with petrol available for longer journeys.
Start by looking at where you park, your weekly mileage and the cost of the charging you would actually use. If plugging in does not fit your routine, compare the Hybrid+ versions; if it does, ask the team to help you assess the HS Plug-in Hybrid.

What to check with the Invicta team
Start with the features that would make a difference to you. Ask whether they are included on the exact car being quoted, then compare that car’s price and delivery timing with another available specification. An earlier car and a newly updated one may both be described as SE or Trophy.
During your visit, try the parking views, seat adjustments and phone connection rather than relying on the equipment list alone. If you have a current MG to part-exchange, the team can bring that valuation into the same conversation.
MG’s main UK manufacturer warranty provides cover for up to seven years or 80,000 miles, subject to its terms, servicing requirements and component-specific limits. See MG’s official warranty statement for the full detail.
Your questions
MG questions answered
Are these all-new MG models?
This announcement concerns equipment, interior and refinement updates to the existing MG3, ZS and HS ranges. Check the model year and specification on the individual vehicle you are considering.
Does the updated MG ZS SE have the panoramic roof?
The announcement places the opening panoramic roof on ZS Trophy Hybrid+. Check the exact trim and build specification rather than assuming it is fitted across the range.
Do MG3 Hybrid+ and ZS Hybrid+ need plugging in?
No. They are full hybrids that manage battery charging while driving. The HS Plug-in Hybrid is the version designed to use an external charging supply.
Why might an MG offer show a different price?
An offer can relate to existing stock, a different model year or a particular specification. Compare the exact equipment and complete quotation, not just the model name or headline price.
Where can I discuss the updated MG range?
Invicta MG Canterbury and Invicta MG Maidstone can help with current offers, specification checks, orders and available test drives.
