Renault Warranty Explained: Car, EV Battery, Paint and Corrosion

Renault’s new-car cover runs for up to three years, with separate terms for electric traction batteries, paintwork, corrosion and approved replacement parts.

The short answerRenault’s UK new-vehicle warranty provides unlimited mileage for the first 24 months, then runs to three years or the applicable total mileage limit. Electric traction batteries have separate eight-year or 100,000-mile cover, subject to the complete terms.

One warranty headline does not describe every component. Renault separates the main vehicle, electric traction battery, paint, body corrosion and approved repair parts. Always match a claim to the correct section and to the car’s first-registration date.

Area Current headline cover Useful detail
New vehicle Up to 3 years Unlimited mileage first 24 months, then 60,000 miles total for most cars or 100,000 miles for electric cars.
EV traction battery 8 years / 100,000 miles Separate battery terms and capacity conditions apply.
Paint 3 years Eligible paint defects, subject to inspection and exclusions.
Anti-corrosion 12 years Most passenger cars; different terms apply to Twizy and Master.
Approved repair parts 1 year Parts and labour for eligible Renault network repairs.

How the three-year vehicle cover works

The first two years have no mileage ceiling under the current UK terms. In year three, the cover continues only while the car remains within its total mileage limit: 60,000 miles for most passenger cars or 100,000 miles for electric cars. Whichever limit is reached first ends that part of the cover.

Electric-car battery cover

The traction battery in a Renault electric car has separate eight-year or 100,000-mile protection. Battery capacity conditions are model- and contract-specific, so consult the warranty booklet rather than assuming every reduction in displayed range is a defect. Temperature, speed and heating can change range without indicating battery failure.

What a warranty does not replace

Servicing, consumables, wear, tyres, accident damage and neglect are not automatically covered. Paint and anti-corrosion protection also have inspection, cause and repair requirements. Roadside assistance is a separate service with its own eligibility and duration.

Before asking about a repair

  • Have the registration, mileage and service history ready.
  • Record when the symptom occurs, without dismantling the car.
  • Report corrosion or paint concerns promptly.
  • Use the warranty booklet supplied for that exact vehicle.
