A fresh look, with more behind it
The new Renault Megane E-Tech electric is now available to order in the UK. Renault opened orders on 1 October, with a refreshed front end, a new battery and a simpler choice of two versions.
For guests considering an electric hatchback, the changes answer three useful questions: what does it cost, how far can it go, and what equipment comes with it? Renault’s current UK range starts with techno, followed by esprit Alpine.
The figures below refer to the new MY27 Megane. When requesting a quotation, confirm the model year and exact specification, particularly when comparing a factory order with existing stock.

Electric journeys
Up to 306 miles, with quicker charging
Renault quotes up to 306 miles WLTP for techno from the new 67 kWh battery. The battery uses LFP chemistry, and a heat pump is standard. Treat the published range as a comparison figure; weather, speed, load and starting charge affect the distance you actually cover.
For longer trips, the new car supports up to 165 kW DC charging. Renault quotes 15–80% in 24 minutes under its specified conditions. The car’s 11 kW AC charger also supports charging at suitable home, workplace and public AC points.
Google Maps can plan a route with charging stops and trigger battery pre-conditioning. Try planning a journey you regularly make when you speak to the team: that is more useful than looking at the maximum range alone.
Inside the new Megane
Technology you can put to work
The openR link system brings navigation and compatible apps into the car, while driver recognition can restore personalised settings. The UK launch announcement also highlights a new ventilated wireless smartphone charger.
These are features worth trying in a specification discussion. Check how your phone connects, where the charging pad sits and which controls you will use each day. Connected functions depend on the relevant account, data connection and service terms.
Start with techno’s equipment list, then compare the specific additions on esprit Alpine. Choosing the features you will use is a better basis for your decision than assuming the higher trim is always the right one.
