Third in the UK’s new-car sales chart through August 2026, the JAECOO 7 has made a quick impression. Here’s what makes this family SUV worth a closer look.
The story in brief

- Three ways to drive: petrol, SHS-H full hybrid and SHS-P plug-in hybrid.
- Everyday appeal: a five-seat SUV with useful technology, a choice of equipment levels and a seven-year/100,000-mile warranty, whichever comes first, subject to terms.

Second place for the month
JAECOO’s September sales update says private buyers continued to drive the model’s performance. Victor Zhang, Managing Director of OMODA & JAECOO UK, described its appeal in the official August sales announcement:
“The JAECOO 7 remains a firm favourite with private customers”

For anyone putting together a family SUV shortlist, the interesting part is what sits behind the numbers: a distinctive design, several powertrain choices and an equipment list that deserves a careful look.
A distinctive family SUV
A shape that stands out
The upright grille, squared-off profile and 19-inch alloy wheels give the JAECOO 7 an easily recognisable look. Its proportions will appeal to drivers who like a traditional SUV shape.
There are five seats inside. A useful showroom check is to set the driver’s seat for your usual position, then try the space behind it. Bring along the pushchair, luggage or child seats you normally carry so you can judge the fit for your household.

Price and specification
Useful equipment, from the start
The JAECOO 7 SHS-H Pure is listed by JAECOO UK from £29,210 on the road, checked on 18 September 2026. Manufacturer prices and Invicta’s current offers are worth checking together when you choose your version.
Invicta’s SHS-H equipment list includes a 13.2-inch central touchscreen, a 10.25-inch digital instrument display and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on Pure. That gives you access to compatible phone apps without needing the highest trim.
SHS-H Deluxe adds a 14.8-inch touchscreen, head-up display, eight-speaker SONY audio, panoramic sunroof and heated and ventilated front seats. These are useful differences to consider if you spend a lot of time in the car or regularly carry passengers.
Those larger-screen and comfort features are associated with specific versions. Check the equipment list for the exact petrol or hybrid model you’re considering.
Three powertrain choices
Petrol or hybrid: choose around your routine
The range gives you a choice of three powertrains. Start with where you can charge and the journeys you make most often.
Petrol
A turbocharged petrol engine and automatic gearbox offer familiar refuelling and driving. Useful if you want to keep your current routine.
SHS-H full hybrid
A petrol engine and electric motor work together, with no need to plug the car in. Worth considering if you want hybrid power without arranging charging.
SHS-P plug-in hybrid
Charge the battery to make more of its electric driving capability. JAECOO quotes up to 56 miles of electric range under WLTP testing, with petrol power for longer trips.
The 56-mile figure is JAECOO’s official WLTP electric range for the SHS-P. Actual range varies with temperature, speed, driving style, load and use of heating or air conditioning. Regular charging helps you make the most of the plug-in hybrid.
Our JAECOO 7 petrol, SHS-H and SHS-P guide explains the differences in more detail.
Make the features work for you
Technology to try on your test drive
Parking cameras, smartphone connections and driver displays are most useful when they feel straightforward to use. Ask the team to pair your phone and demonstrate the features fitted to the car you’re considering.
On versions with a head-up display, driving information appears in the driver’s line of sight. Selected models also offer JAECOO’s 540-degree panoramic camera system, which provides views around the vehicle and a visualisation beneath it to help with low-speed manoeuvres. Check JAECOO’s UK specification for the chosen version.
Looking beyond the specification
A seven-year warranty and local support
A long warranty adds reassurance when considering a brand that is still relatively new to the UK. New JAECOO cars come with seven years or 100,000 miles of manufacturer warranty, whichever comes first. Servicing requirements, terms and exclusions apply; the official JAECOO warranty information explains the cover.
Invicta Motors has motoring roots dating back to 1923. Our local teams can help you compare available cars, understand the equipment and discuss servicing support before you make a decision.
Your next step
Make your visit count
Turn the specification into a few simple checks when you visit:
- Try your everyday load. Check the boot opening, rear-seat access and the items you regularly carry.
- Use the main controls. Adjust the climate settings, connect your phone and try the parking display.
- Discuss your mileage. Explain your commute, longer trips and charging access so the team can help you compare powertrains.
- Match the quote to the car. Confirm the trim, included equipment, availability and total price.
