How to Charge a CHERY Super Hybrid: Home and Rapid Charging

Plugging in regularly is the simplest way to use more of the TIGGO 7 or TIGGO 8 Super Hybrid’s electric range—but the petrol engine remains ready for longer journeys.

The short answerCharge at home whenever practical, ideally while the car is parked overnight. The TIGGO 7 and TIGGO 8 Super Hybrid can also use compatible DC rapid charging at up to 40kW, with a quoted 30–80% time of around 20 minutes.

A CHERY Super Hybrid is a plug-in hybrid, so it combines a rechargeable battery with a petrol engine. You do not have to stop driving when the battery’s usable charge is low, but regular charging is how you gain the quietest local journeys and the best chance of reducing petrol use.

Where can you charge?

At home, a professionally installed wallbox is usually the most convenient option. Plug in after the final journey of the day and the car can be ready again the next morning. A standard domestic socket may be suitable for occasional use only when the manufacturer’s supplied equipment and electrical guidance allow it; ask a qualified installer if you are unsure.

On the road, the TIGGO 7 and TIGGO 8 Super Hybrid support compatible public AC points and up to 40kW DC rapid charging. CHERY quotes roughly 20 minutes from 30 to 80% on a suitable rapid charger. Actual time depends on battery temperature, charger output, starting charge and conditions.

Charging option Best use What to expect
Home wallbox Overnight or between daily trips The easiest way to begin local journeys with useful electric range.
Public AC Work, shopping or longer parking A useful top-up while the car is already stationary.
DC rapid Quick stop on a longer day 30–80% in around 20 minutes under suitable conditions.

A simple charging routine

  • Plug in when it is convenient rather than waiting for the battery to be empty.
  • Use scheduled charging in the CHERY app where available to suit your routine or off-peak tariff.
  • Pre-condition the cabin while connected when the feature is available, especially in cold weather.
  • Leave rapid chargers free once your useful top-up is complete.

What does 56 miles mean?

The official 56-mile figure is measured under WLTP test conditions. Real electric distance varies with temperature, speed, heating, hills, load and driving style. A shorter winter result does not automatically indicate a fault. Treat WLTP as a comparison figure and learn the car’s pattern on your regular route.

Can you drive without charging?

Yes. The car can continue using its hybrid system and petrol engine. However, repeatedly running without plugging in means carrying a larger battery without gaining its full electric benefit. If reliable charging is impossible, compare the Super Hybrid with a petrol or self-charging hybrid option before choosing.
