Scenic E-Tech expert reviews
Why the Scenic belongs on a family-EV shortlist
The Scenic E-Tech has earned strong independent recognition for combining electric range with the space and technology families use. Its 2024 Car of the Year win provides a clear starting point; the road tests explain what the car is like beyond that award.
This is a round-up of published UK expert verdicts. The reviews and imagery below feature versions preceding the newly announced MY27 update. Current UK figures are identified separately, so older road-test prices and battery specifications are not presented as today’s range.
Auto Express
4.5/5Review dated 14 April 2026
The review praises the design, boot space and value. Its overall verdict presents the Scenic as a convincing family EV, while identifying ride preference and rear visibility as things to consider.
Top Gear
8/10Published 24 May 2024
The team’s positive verdict centres on space, efficiency, technology and the cabin finish. It treats the Scenic as a family car rather than a sporting SUV.
Carwow
7/10Updated 29 May 2026
Mario Christou highlights useful range, passenger space, the boot and intuitive infotainment. The assessment is more reserved about low-speed comfort and visibility.
Comfort, technology and an everyday cabin
Top Gear gives the Scenic credit for the features that matter during ordinary journeys: passenger room, storage and an easy-to-use driver interface. Auto Express also sees family appeal in the balance between space, agility and electric range.
“Space, efficiency and superb tech count in the Scenic’s favour.”
Top Gear, Renault Scenic review
Use that as a starting point for your visit. Sit behind your normal driving position, try the screen layout and check the functions you would use on a familiar route. If comfort is a priority, ask to include some town driving in your test-drive discussion.
The family details are worth trying
Carwow draws attention to the roomy cabin and luggage capacity. The useful question for a family is whether those spaces work with your own passengers and belongings—not whether a headline boot number looks large.
Bring the child-seat requirements, pushchair dimensions or typical luggage list you need the car to accommodate. Try rear-seat access and the armrest’s storage and device supports where fitted. Check the exact trim, because equipment shown in manufacturer imagery can differ from UK vehicles.

The current UK Scenic: keep MY27 figures separate
Renault announced its MY27 changes on 1 October 2026. Its current UK page lists the Techno Long Range 220 hp MY27 from £33,245 OTR after the £3,750 Electric Car Grant, equivalent to £36,995 before that grant. Confirm eligibility and the exact vehicle quotation with the team.
- Maximum advertised driving range
- Up to 392 miles WLTP on Techno
- Seats
- Five
- Boot, rear seats upright
- 545 litres, manufacturer figure
- Boot, rear bench folded
- Up to 1,670 litres, manufacturer figure
The 392-mile figure is an official test result, not a promise for every journey. Weather, speed, vehicle load and equipment affect everyday range. These current figures do not change what a reviewer measured in an earlier car. See Renault’s current UK Scenic details.
An award with its date attached
The independent Car of the Year jury named Scenic its 2024 winner with 329 points. It is a recognised achievement for the Scenic E-Tech, rather than a new award for the MY27 specification.
Alongside the reviews, it gives you a reason to put the car on your shortlist. Your next step is to assess the exact version you would buy: its equipment, charging arrangements, total quotation and how it fits family life.
