Mazda CX-80: six seats or seven?
A middle bench, a clear passage or a console between two individual chairs: choose the CX-80 around the people who travel with you.
At a glance
- Seven seats keep three places in row two.
- Six seats replace the bench with two captain’s chairs.
- Walk-through and centre-console layouts serve different routines.
Start with your busiest journey
The Mazda CX-80 offers more than a choice between six seats and seven. Its second row can change the way passengers reach the back, sit together and use the cabin on a long journey.
Start with the journey that asks most of your car: the school run with an extra passenger, a family weekend or regular trips with adults in the rear. If you sometimes need all seven places, a six-seat version cannot provide that spare middle seat.
Seven seats: keep the extra place
The standard seven-seat arrangement uses a three-place bench in the middle and two seats in the third row. Mazda gives the bench 120mm of sliding adjustment, letting you balance space between the rear rows.
For a viewing, set the front seats to your normal position first. Then sit in rows two and three, adjust the bench and practise entry and exit. Bring the child seats you actually use and ask the team to check their compatibility and the approved installation positions.
Six seats: walk-through or centre console?
Captain’s chairs replace the middle bench with two individual seats. The key decision is what sits between them: an open passage to the third row, or a dedicated centre console.
Mazda’s current UK range highlights a walk-through layout on Homura Plus and a console layout on Takumi Plus. The 2026 UK press pack also describes a tan Nappa leather and centre-console option for Homura Plus. These are specification choices to check on the exact vehicle or factory order, rather than features shared by every CX-80.
Walk-through
Prioritise the route between the second-row chairs. Try it with your usual passengers before choosing.
Centre console
Prioritise the individual-chair layout and console between the seats. Check how you will reach row three.
Make comfort part of the decision
Seat count is only part of the choice. Mazda specifies three-zone climate control with separate second-row controls; third-row passengers also have air vents and USB-C charging points.
During a demonstration, let each regular passenger try the controls, armrests and seating position. Check the space around child seats and make sure everyone can enter and leave comfortably without assuming a photograph tells the whole story.
Leave room for the rest of family life
A seating configuration should work with your luggage as well as your passengers. Bring a pushchair, sports kit or the bags you normally carry and try the car in the seat arrangement you expect to use most.
Ask Invicta Motors Mazda to confirm the seating layout, upholstery and option packs on a specific car. For a factory order, have the agreed six-seat or seven-seat configuration recorded on the final specification before you commit.
Your questions answered
Does the Mazda CX-80 have seven seats as standard?
Yes. The standard layout has three seats in row two and two in row three. Optional six-seat configurations replace the middle bench with two captain’s chairs.
Can I have six seats with a clear walk-through?
Mazda’s current UK range highlights that configuration on Homura Plus. Confirm the exact grade, upholstery and order specification with Invicta Motors.
Does a centre-console version keep seven seats?
No. The captain’s-chair and centre-console layout has six seats. It does not retain a third middle-row passenger position.
