JAECOO E5 vs Geely EX5
Two electric SUVs. A useful difference in price, size and everyday equipment.
At a glance
- E5 Pure: £27,505 OTR, 248-mile WLTP range and a compact 4,380mm body.
- EX5 SE: £31,990 OTR, 267-mile WLTP range and longer headline warranty cover.
- The decision: weigh the E5’s lower starting price and smaller size against the EX5’s additional range and charging capability.
A smaller SUV with a lower starting price
The JAECOO E5 and Geely EX5 both put electric SUV ownership within reach, but they are not quite the same size. The E5 Pure starts at £27,505 OTR; the EX5 SE starts at £31,990 OTR. That is a £4,485 difference before optional paint, accessories or offers.
Here we compare those two entry versions, rather than combining the cheapest trim with the range or equipment of a more expensive one. JAECOO’s current UK specification and Geely’s UK specification provide the figures below.

Which fits your parking space?
The E5 is 235mm shorter than the EX5. If you park on a short driveway, use a compact garage or spend time in town, that difference is worth measuring before you decide. Both are five-seat SUVs; neither needs to be bought purely on its dimensions.
Try your normal seating position and check the space behind it. Bring your child seat or everyday luggage if you want to assess the fit. Published boot capacities can use different measuring methods, so a direct loading check is more useful than declaring a winner from two numbers.
Range and charging: compare the same versions
The EX5 SE has a 19-mile advantage in the published WLTP range figures. The E5’s 248-mile figure nevertheless gives it a useful starting point for everyday electric driving. Neither number is a promise of the distance you will achieve. Temperature, speed, load and heating use all matter.
JAECOO lists a 60.9kWh battery, up to 80kW DC charging and around 27 minutes for a 30–80% top-up. Geely lists up to 135kW DC and around 20 minutes over the same percentage window. Actual charging depends on the battery and charger conditions. A higher peak does not mean that speed is maintained throughout the session.
Work backwards from your routine: where can you charge, how far do you travel on a busy day, and where would you stop on a longer trip?
Why put the E5 on your shortlist?
Its appeal is straightforward: a lower list price, compact dimensions and a useful parking-camera system without moving up to Luxury. JAECOO also lists wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on E5 Pure, so compatible phone navigation and audio are part of the starting package.
The EX5 SE brings useful equipment of its own, including heated front seats and steering wheel. If those are priorities, compare the E5 Luxury quotation too—do not assume Pure includes everything shown in a higher-trim photograph.
Our team can talk through the E5’s charging connection and controls, then help arrange a test drive. That is the next step if the price and size look right for you.
